VERDICCHIO DEI CASTELLI DI JESI

It is produced exclusively on the hills in the middle of Ancona’s province and in a restricted area of Macerata’s province (where Tavignano is located) and with pure Verdicchio grapes or in percentages of at least 85%. The maximum production allowed reaches 140 quintals of grapes per hectare for the common DOC, but the vineyards of Tavignano usually range between 60 and 100 quintals of grapes, in relation to the climatic trend of the year. In 1968 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi obtained the DOC and in 2010 the DOCG for the Riserva and Riserva Classico versions, a classification exclusively intended for those wines aged at least 18 months, of which at least 6 in bottle, and coming from the oldest production area, close to the path of the Esino river.
