TERROIR
Location gives life to wine. And location is the tastes and traditions of the people who inhabited the castles and villages of the Marche, the local breezes that blow from the Adriatic and the Apennines, the influence of the rivers that flow through it.
At Tenuta di Tavignano, we’ve collected what happened in this place, studied it and made it part of us. We’ve worked to enhance our harmony with the land and accompany the vines as they grow, not as external agents but as an integral part of the growing process just as our ancestors taught us to be.
Our profound knowledge of the exceptional characteristics of DOC Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is our secret. Because to give life to a great wine, you have to listen to the land that gives it life, understand it and work with it.
VINEYARDS
Our estate has 230 hectares of land, 30 of which are dedicated to vineyards that are divided into two: white grapes on the estate side and red grapes closer to the sea.

We cultivate our vineyards respecting the plant’s life cycle, creating biodiversity by making the soil healthy and nutrient rich, pushing the plants towards total self-sufficiency and thus natural behaviours.
For the “Misco”, for example, we hand-pick the grapes to affect the plants as little as possible, then we take the same care during the pressing phase. This special care is aimed at obtaining products with particular finesse, tradition and long life.

CELLAR
The cellar is the place that keeps the secrets of the estate’s winemaking process.
Here we carry out various operations (pressing, fermentation, ageing) aimed at preserving the original characteristics of the grapes.
It’s a modern structure with steel barrels dug underground, rebuilt from scratch in 2005 and designed specifically for the bespoke ageing needs of our white wines. The barrique cellar on the other hand, located in the basement of the manor house, has French oak barriques where the 1st passage of the reds takes place and large Slavonian oak barrels perfect for the 2nd and 3rd.

THE HISTORY
OF TAVIGNANO
Stefano Aymerich di Laconi and Beatrice Lucangeli founded Tenuta di Tavignano, a company that has always aimed to enhance the territory and agronomic history of Marche.
In 2014, Ondine de la Feld Aymerich, an arch-designer with a past in fashion but a strong tradition in agricultural entrepreneurship, as well as Stefano and Beatrice’s granddaughter, joined the administration of Tenuta di Tavignano and marked the green turn of the entire production with her modern, dynamic and entrepreneurial style.
Until the 1990s, the estate’s activities were based on the cultivation of cereals, vegetables and fodder crops. Then the decision was taken to become a producer of indigenous wine varieties, enhancing their quality and territoriality.

FROM TRADITION,
AWARDS
From here on, quality and terroir have been the great protagonists of Tenuta di Tavignano, and we have focused on revaluing and revisiting the ancient production techniques of the Marche, accounting for the various types of vineyards and the territory they favour. This has allowed us to achieve awards such as the ‘Tre Bicchieri del Gambero Rosso for Misco‘ Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore in 2006 and the nomination of Misco 2015 as ‘Gambero Rosso’s Best White Wine of Italy‘ in 2017.

THE ECOLOGICAL TURNAROUND
The conversion of all the vineyards (and olive groves) to organic began in 2014. A conversion that was then completed in 2018 by obtaining organic certification on the label for wines and oil.
In 2021, Ondine de la Feld became CEO of Tavignano and initiated an eco-sustainable study programme to steer the company towards a ‘greener’ future.
